How to Insulate a Home Workshop (Part One)

New on YouTube: Insulating the Walls

For many, woodworking, or making in general, will be an activity undertaken in the spare time and in a small workshop at home. Wether it be a shed or garage, having a warm place to work, potter or just contemplate your project is crucial and simply putting heat into the space is the colder months is not the answer. When I tell you that my heating bill for the winter of 2018/19 was over £100 in order for me to work for around 4-6 hours per weekend, you can begin to see the value in taking steps to keep the heat in.

In my latest video I show you a project that I completed in early July to fully insulate a single-skin brick garage starting with the walls. I’ll show you the approach I took, look at some of the things you need to consider when installing insulation and I will run-through the project costs.

How do I go about installing insulation into my workshop is a common enough question? For a good few of you this video will be the answer. For the rest I hope it helps you in your research.

Keeping your workshop warm in winter or cool in summer ensures you get the most of the space all year round. In this video I show you how I installed Cellotex insulation to a single skin brick garage here in the UK.
