Building the X-Carve Waste Board Assembly

New on YouTube: Fitting-out a UK Sourced Waste-board

In the world of ‘bench-top’ CNC there are many choices, plenty to consider and one or two compromises to make. After a long period of research I’ve finally settled on the X-Carve CNC from Inventables but chosen to source the machine from within the UK.

Robosavvy import machines from the US and ship them throughout the UK and Europe, however the heavy waste board is sourced in the UK. While dimensionally the same the board has a few differences which include the lack of the screen-printed grid and shellac-based finish.

One final difference is that the 144 mounting holes do not have a countersunk chamfer on the underside. And in this video we put this right.

The UK version of the waste board is different from the version sold directly by Inventables. In this video we put together the work-area section of the build and quickly modify the baseboard to make it easier to install the 144 threaded insets into the back of the board.
